Russia is ready to return to peace talks with Ukraine if they are based on the Istanbul agreements, Vladimir Putin said.
According to Putin, Moscow has repeatedly confirmed its readiness for dialogue with Kyiv. He noted that the negotiation process could be built on the agreements previously reached in Istanbul and, as the Russian side claims, initialed by the Ukrainian delegation. Putin made the statement during a meeting with members of the Russian government, Russian media report.
Putin also said that any possible talks between Russia and Ukraine should take into account not only the Istanbul agreements, but also the parameters discussed in Anchorage, as well as the current situation on the front line.
According to him, Moscow considers it necessary to conduct negotiations taking into account the “realities on the ground” and the principles he previously outlined during a speech at the Russian Foreign Ministry.
